My heart is heavy. Jerry Doyle was such an amazing man. I will miss him dearly.He accomplished so much. He had a lovely sense of humor. He was so kind and so intelligent. He is gone far too soon.God bless him and those who love him so.

One year ago, I 've shared a little story in this same site. Not to much to add. Just the time pass too fast...One year this guy simply go away, suddenly, no explanations...So is the life, like say a song. Jus I want to say, again, was a luck to enjoy his work, and his co-workers, partners, of course, mainly in the B5 . Always I remember that series, and the cast, may be I like to see the real persons behind. The most of female cast and one of two males, obviously he was one of the second case. I think because of your similar interests in the real life to the mines, astronautics and related matters. Thanks for that years of good work and better person you was always, Mr Doyle. Always remembered....

I just found out and was shocked and dismayed to hear this tragic news of Jerry's passing. I never had the opportunity to meet Jerry in person however I did have conversations with him on the radio. He was such an intelligent voice of reason with such skillful critical thinking and intuitive mind that he shared with all of us and I was truly grateful for his lone voice of wisdom in the sea of stupidity that we hear from the mainstream media talking heads. He will be seriously missed. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace Jerry.

Wow just found out. Deepest condolences to his entire family and his brother John and to Matt. Glad to read the touching story from Jerry about your grandfather Matt. It is true everything that everyone has written about Jerry, he was a very unique and special person, lit up every room with personality and humor, tough on the outside but with a huge heart, fiercely loyal and patriotic. I ran Jerry's show at KDWN in Vegas for 8 years and, of course, knew his life backwards and forwards. I had the pleasure of meeting him when he came to the station. My name is Jim Martin Jr . I want share a story about Jerry Doyle. I grew up with him in Highland Lakes. One day after a softball game. I asked him, what should I do with my life? He said, I'm going to California. That's what I'm going to do. I moved to California, I was busy working and going to college on the GI Bill. A few years later, I kid you not. I'm walking down the beach in San Diego. I run into Jerry wearing a suit and tie. He says to me, what are you doing here? I said, I moved to California to. Jerry said, I'm a stock broker, come down to my office. And I'm throwing a party this weekend at the house, drop by. The next thing I know, me and Jerry are picking up chickens, salad and beer at the super market for the party. He says, I want you to cook the food for everyone. I did and he told me, you did a good job, thank you Jimbo. Years later, I see him on Babylon 5 on TV. I almost fell off my chair. He's playing a martian. Flying a helicopter. Wow...I couldn't believe it. I adjusted my TV, is that him ? Yep, that was Jerry. Then, much later, I hear him on the radio doing a political talk show out of Las Vegas. He's bringing on one guest after another. Generals, Politicians and even Dwayne Allman of the Allman Brothers Band. Which was funny because he responded very slowly to Jerry's questions. In conclusion, Jerry knew how to live life. Not afraid of anything. Adventure, Patriotism and Laughter. He knew how to do it. I will miss him. God please take good care of my friend. My little story started exactly twenty years ago, when I follow the series that allow Jerry to get your fame. In my case was my interest in astronomy and space sciences the reason for it. I must to say it allow me the chance to know interesting people, and Jerry was one of the most. Some years later I got the chance to attend to a couple of that events, and in both Jerry was one of the guests. Always I like to know the real person behind the character, and this guy was notable. I follow your career for all this time, for some reason I did it, perfectly combined with my natural interest in astronomy. I must to say I'll remember to him each I put my view in the sky He will be a more star like will be for your family and friends

I was at an SF convention in Overland Park, KS, and Jerry was one of the Guests (yes, capital G). When it came time for him to speak, we all had to go into a large room (not the auditorium), and we were seated. The Host/Producer of the convention walked up on the small stage and announced that once Jerry started talking, the doors would be locked so no one would be able to enter, or LEAVE. There was also a warning that if a person was easily offended, they might want to leave now. A young man sitting near me scoffed at the warning. So, they turned Jerry loose on us. I thought, personally that is was exhilarating. I personally can't stand pretense and B.S. and Jerry told us all about his opinion of Hollywood and politics. The young man sitting a few seats away from me, was obviously in distress and needed comfort. I said to him, 'Dude, you were warned.'

In this universe there is a universal rule of placement, that to find any person or item you need only know it's location and one other thing: its duration. Mr. Doyle's duration was far too short but in that time he affected so many with his unique ability to cause a discussion among those who knew him, those that knew of him and those who were waiting for someone to ask the right questions with a genuine need to see it through. I was absolutely shocked & saddened at learning of Jerry's passing. I loved B5. I met him briefly at a BabTrek ComicCon in Raleigh in the middle 90s. He was a grand presence, walking around the dealer tables. I nearly knocked him over by accident, turning around. He was gracious, funny and a great conversationalist. The dealers loved him. I loved his radio show and his sharp wit. I didn't agree with everything he said but, I respected him greatly. He was a fascinating man. Son of a cop. An aviator. Worked on Wall Street. Gave the clearest explanation of the 2008 crash. A politician (sorry you lost). An engaging actor. An excellent author. Ruled the radio waves. Great storyteller. Loved his Momma. Lost his Dad too young. Adored his family & friends. A very, very bright light, extinguished way too early. Godspeed to beyond the Rim. See you, again, where no shadows fall. Wow; didn't expect this. Like his politics or not, he did make you think and wasn't afraid to engage in meaningful discussion. Solid actor and a regular guy; all rare combinations. Jerry Doyle played a character with integrity on Babyon 5. He then went on to show that, despite being an obviously talented actor, he could portray the integirty so easily because it was within him. You didn't have to agree with his politics - I didn't always - but I recognised the inherent wish to do the right thing, and behave honestly.

He was known for being incredibly generous to his thousands of fans. He was also mourned oopenly by many castmates. When people who have known you for that long grieve so much, then you knowyou have made an impact.

Thanks for the memories Jerry. We will be watching B5 this weekend in tribute.

I was only a listener to Jerry's show and a fan of his acting on Babylon 5 until listening to a show inspired me to reach out to him through email. Much to my shock, JD read the email on air a couple of days later. That event led to my regularly sending him my thoughts on issues and topics and he continued to shock me by sharing some of those on the show and even engaging conversation back and forth through those emails. He became a penpal and confidant that I deeply appreciated and miss terrribly. The greatest gift Jerry gave to us all was his availablility as an average guy, who was actually and outstanding leader. Our world is a lesser place without him. There will never be another Jerry Doyle.

I met Jerry in London, when he was a guest at a convention. He was funny, fiery, fierce and told really good one liners. He was considerate of others and really made you feel he was listening to you. I never had the privillage to meet Jerry Doyle. I think we might have disagreed on a lot of things, but that makes no real difference. He was clearly a good and principled man. He gave us Mr Garibali, creating perhaps the greatest everyman character in SciFi. A character I related to, and who, frankly, got me through some tough times in my life. Jerry Doyle did that for me, a guy he never met or even knew existed. His life touched the lives of millions. As one of those millions I am eternally grateful. To all who actually knew Jerry, Thank you for being part of what he shared with all of us - the fans. We heard about many of you to the point we actually feel like we know you, just like we felt like we knew Jerry. He treated the fans like we mattered, because to him we really did matter. The one time I managed to call into the radio show, I told him his mother had raised him right because he said women callers always went to the front of the line. I met Jerry when we served on the Board of Directors of the Easter Seals Society in San Diego. He was a major contributor to the success of our chapter. He was thoughtful, intellegent, cheerful and always brought a feeling of confidence and calm into the room. My son was a big fan of Jerry in Babylon 5 and watched every episode. I enjoyed the Epic Times pieces on Facebook and listened to his radio show when ever I was able. There was much to admire about Jerry Doyle. Rest in Peace.

Like many, I only "knew" Jerry through his role on Babylon 5 and his radio show and Epic Times, but it still feels like losing a personal friend. I met Jerry only twice, but one of those times was for dinner at a convention I was running here in Madison, WI. I had a great time debating a variety of topics with him; politically, we were polar opposites, but we both had fun, with ideas and arguments flowing back & forth. My son is a big fan of Babylon 5, and 6 years ago, when he became an Eagle Scout, I was gathering congratulatory letters from people of note who had inspired him or whom he admired. Among the congratulatory letters received was a handwritten letter from Jerry, and it is kept in my son's Eagle Scout scrapbook. Jerry could have ignored the request, but he took the time to write something, and we will always remember his kindness.
